Get aca-ready because the Bellas are back in Pitch Perfect 2. The trailer to the hilarious musical film was released recently and Elizabeth Banks took to her website to explain all that went down in the crazy preview.
Banks, who stars in and directed the movie, opens her GIF-tastic explanation by writing, "I've been hard at work in the editing room on Pitch Perfect 2 and I'm thrilled that you all finally got to see the trailer. Now that you've had a chance to digest, speculate and generally freak out (just breathe, Bechloe shippers.), let me break it down for you real quick…"
Anna Kendrick, Alexis Knapp, and Skylar Astin return for the highly anticipated sequel. Banks even reveals that the Bellas, "Added some badass new members and they're ready to rumble. Love me some girl power."
Banks jokes that, "The crazy world of collegiate a cappella has not gotten any less crazy since the first movie. Tobias from Arrested Development is in blue silk pajamas, wearing some gold bling, forcing you to make fart sounds to get into parties."
The male a cappella group is back with Banks teasing, "I love a man who's secure enough in his masculinity to wear a crushed velvet blazer," about the group's feminine fashion sense.
What we're perhaps most excited to hear, though, is that according to Banks, "Benji (Ben Platt) is still doing close up magic and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) is still awesome." Not sure what we'd do if Wilson hadn't been in the sequel.
Banks also gives herself some props by saying, "John and Gail are back and their commentary game is ON. POINT. (If I do say so myself.)"
From Bumper Allen (Adam Devine) joining a new team, to players from the Green Bay Packers joining the cast, it looks like this film is one we'll definitely be heading to theaters to see.
In an interview with E! News, Banks admitted she still gets emotional over the first movie. "I'm so thrilled by every video I ever see of kids doing it," she said of Anna Kendrick's viral "Cups" audition. "And we get videos from all around the world. Honestly, I cry every time I see it because it's so amazing to me that we touched so many people with that moment in the movie."
