Kailey Strachan for E! Online
The Oscars is upon us. Are you ready?
We're not just talking about voting ballots and memorizing film facts—we're talking about what you're going to wear. OK, maybe it's not necessarily a momentous occasion for you—but you're bound to have one eventually.
To get you prepped for any big night, we asked E! Style Collective members how they get themselves and their celebrity clients ready for the red carpet. Naturally, it all begins with a strong foundation—healthy skin.
"A few girlfriends and I recently stopped eating processed sugar and sweets, and all of a sudden our skin started to clear up!" testified our resident health guru Candice Kumai. "Beauty truly is an inside job, and it's fascinating to see how your body and complexion can react to the elimination of certain foods in your diet."
Makeup artist Ashley Rebecca also believes a healthy diet will affect your skin.
"Eat your fruits and veggies," she advised. She also swears by Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil for "hydrated and fresh-looking skin," she added.
For celebrity hairstylist Kim Kimble, her prep secrets are more about functionality.
"I love using natural coconut oil for both skin and hair," said Beyoncé's hair guru. "It's fantastic for dry, itchy skin and helps delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, it's a great, healthy oil that you can cook with!"
Ultimately, it's best to know your skin type when choosing the right products. More importantly, it's about your habits.
"[Be] religious about a routine with good anti-aging products," suggested makeup maven Tina Turnbow. "Consistency is key''
Unfortunately, blemishes and acne can strike at a moment's notice—even for the stars. To combat this, there are several different treatments.
"My secret go-to product for on-the-spot acne treatment is End Zit," noted Whitey Port. "It is a drying lotion that comes in skin color so you can cover up blemishes during the day while still treating them."
For more a slightly more intense treatment, celeb colorist Jennifer J is a fan of microdermabrasion, which basically exfoliates skin and results in a softer, brighter look.
"Getting microdermabrasion is so important to deep clean your skin and make your body produce more collagen," Jennifer said. "All the celebs do it at least once a month but many once a week."
Another option to get illuminating skin comes courtesy of style blogger Nashelly Messina.
"I've been using SkinMedia Skin Brightening Complex under my moisturizer, and my skin (according to people) has been glowing," said the Fabulatina founder.
Locked and loaded with all the prep secrets you need, you will shine at any event.
