Rebel Wilson Responds to Rumors That She's Lying About Her Name and Age

Rebel Wilson is just trying to be Rebel Wilson, despite what the tabloids might say.
Australian tabloid Woman's Day printed a story that claimed that the Pitch Perfect 2 star has been lying about her name, age and background, among other things. But when the story gained pickup from other outlets, the comedienne responded on Twitter in the best way possible.
"OMG I'm actually a 100 year old mermaid formerly known as 'CC Chalice' ....thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome x," she wrote.
But while she was willing to shoot down most of the claims in the article, she did clarify one truth. "Okay but all jokes aside now...my real name is Fat Patricia x,"added Rebel, referencing a line from Pitch Perfect.
Well played, Fat Amy. Well played.
Woman's Day had reported that instead of growing up in the "ghetto" of Sydney and spending a year in Zimbabwe, Rebel really had a "very normal, upper-middle-class upbringing."

"She's clearly got a vivid imagination," a source told the publication. "Maybe you have to tell stories to make it in Hollywood!"
The story reported that Rebel's real name is Melanie Bownds and that she is actually 36 years old instead of 29. It includes a yearbook photo that appears to be Rebel but with the name Melanie.
"She was definitely not the class clown; none of us remember her being funny," Woman's Day quoted a source as saying. "While Rebel paints a picture of a gypsy upbringing, her family home was certainly not in any 'ghetto.'"
But if anyone were to uncover or reveal Rebel's real identity, it would be her own mom! Or should we say, "the momarazzi"? Rebel dished to E! News at the premiere of Pitch Perfect 2 that she wouldn't allow her mom to attend because of her aggressive photography.
"She would be up here with another camera, right here, filming me," she said. "She loves taking pictures. She loves filming."
"I'm like, 'Mom, don't do it, it's like really embarrassing,'" Rebel quipped. "I'm like trying to be a cool movie star. But she is unstoppable. I have to yell at her."
