Jill Duggar's first Mother's Day just became a lot more special!
The 19 Kids and Counting star and husband Derick Dillard started off their Sunday morning as usual with a visit to church. But for this weekend's service, all eyes were on baby Israel who was receiving special recognition.
"Baby Israel was dedicated today," a source revealed exclusively to E! News. "It was a dedication from the parents to raise the child as a Christian."
Many Baptists consider a "dedication" to be different from a baptism, which typically occurs when members are old enough to make the decision themselves.
Derick's mom and dad, Amy Duggar and other family members were able to witness the moment that took place on the altar.
"Jill looked great and her and Derick were as close as ever," the insider revealed. "She stayed close to him. Everyone was really happy."
Back at home, Jill was able to share a special Mother's Day wish to her own mom. While cradling baby Israel in her arms, the 23-year-old couldn't help but acknowledgeMichelle Duggar's influence as she raises her own child.
"So grateful to God for you as my mother and you're just a godly example of what a mother should be like and I hope to be like you," she explained. "You're just a great role model and a model of Christ really to all of us…Love you a lot."
Derick also had a few heartfelt words for his mom who was battling Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma last Mother's Day. Today, the new grandmother is doing much better and able to celebrate her son's latest milestones.
"My mom's story of battle and triumph over cancer is nothing short of a miracle, performed by the one true God, our Lord Jesus Christ," he wrote on his blog. "Next to my wife, my mom is the most special woman in the world to me."
