You just never know who's going to stop by the Meredith Vieira Show!
On Friday's special Mother's Day episode, producers informed host Meredith Vieirathat a mystery guest was standing backstage. But before he or she could be revealed, the talk-show host had to guess the person's identity.
Using a fake voice, the guest in question immediately began dropping some major hints. "I saw you at this year's Super Bowl and you might say you actually gave me my start," the visitor explained. "I've known your husband for more than 20 years."
Oh, that may have just given Meredith an aha moment!
"Are you a reporter?" she asked before getting a round of applause from the studio audience. "Are you Gabe?"
Sure enough, her middle son Gabe Cohen appeared with a bouquet of flowers that immediately made mom emotional.
"This is my favorite child. No, only kidding," she joked through tears. "I'm so proud of him because he graduated from Northwestern and on his own, he got his first job in Spokane, Wash., and he's a reporter there and he's doing a great job."
Proud mama alert!
And being the good son that he is, Gabe happily agreed to participate in the popular segment "What's Hot Live!" with his mom.
"Your kids are like your kids forever and ever," the former Today show co-host shared with the crowd. Happy Mother's Day, Meredith!
